Mike Josey grew up swinging a hammer and framing under his father who was a contractor for 25 years in Crestview. This led to his interest into the first available drafting class in 8th grade and went on to earn a degree at Okaloosa Walton College in 1983.

In 1995, Mike Josey opened Josey Plan Services, a full time drafting company. Since Josey Plans Services became such a successful business venture, Mike felt the time had come to strive towards his ultimate goal of having his own construction firm. 

Mike Josey Construction, Inc., in Crestview, was developed in 2003 by childhood friends, Mike Josey and Alan Paul. Mike previously worked as a Right of Way Agent and a Manager of Marketing Services for CHELCO. Ironically, Alan Paul assumed Mike’s role as CHELCO’s Right of Way Agent after Mike moved to the marketing department. When the time came for a construction partner, Mike knew where to begin!

After years of working in the design and building industry, Mike sat for his builders test at the state level in 2003, and he became a "Certified Building Contractor," which allows him to build residential homes and commercial structures up to three stories in height anywhere in the state of Florida. 

In their first year of business they entered two homes into the BIA’s Parade of Homes. The submissions resulted in 1st and 2nd place wins for the company. This early success jump started the business and has led Mike and his team to build over 100 projects from Destin to Alabama, which includes custom homes, renovations, and additions.

Mike Josey Construction, Inc. specializes in building primarily custom homes as well as small commercial projects that are too small for the big guys and too big for the others. Filling this special niche has allowed Mike Josey Construction to develop projects in not only Crestview but also Destin, Fort Walton Beach, DeFuniak Springs, Paxton, Laurel Hill, and Niceville. 

They have a staff of five employees and respond quickly to new inquiries and with in-house designs, can visit with homeowners quickly and effectively. They have incorporated educating homeowners in their client meetings, so that the clients are well versed on growing trends and opportunities to incorporate new ideas in their new homes, remodels, commercial projects, etc.

Mike Josey has taken a leadership role in the building industry and has become very active in the BIA. This allows Mike Josey Construction access to the latest and current changes in the local, state, and national governments’s building and permit codes.

Mike Josey serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for The Building Industry Association of Okaloosa and Walton Counties and will be the incoming 2009 President of the BIA. Mike also serves as the Chairman of the 2008 Parade of Homes Committee and is a member of the Programs and Governmental Affairs Committees.
